BURRUM HEADS WINDFEST

Each year Burrum hosts the Qld Windfest usually around March to April, and given the right tide this is also the windy season, mind you the sailing here can vary at different times throughout the year offering some great winds. Windfest offers a week of competition & attracts windsurfers from around the country, there are also demo days, so free gear to use & test or buy including sup boards and kites. Surrounding spots include Gatakers Bay in a SW wind or Point Vernom to Hervey Bay Urangan for south to NE winds.

The Burrum Heads Markets are held at the Burrum Heads Community Hall, with over 30 stalls offering a variety of arts, crafts, gifts and foods to suit everyone.

With Hervey Bay & Maryborough located a short drive away from Burrum Heads & Toogoom, there is many things to see and do that your holiday can be as busy or as quiet as you like. Both Hervey Bay & Maryborough offer great dining experiences, shopping centres, movie cinemas, parks and playgrounds, weekly markets, golf courses etc. You can also do whale watching, fishing trips.
Both Burrum Heads and Toogoom hold annual fishing competitions, with Burrum Heads holding theirs to concide with the Easter Long weekend every year.
With small children a great place to visit during the hotter months is Hervey Bay Wetside Water Education Park. Located on the foreshore at the end of Main Street, with free entry, under 5’s area, giant tipping bucket, and many other great features, this will keep the kids cool and happy. Also to do in the Fraser Coast Region is to visit beautiful Fraser Island. There are many activities to see and do that you will need to come back for a second visit, just to fit it all in.
If you are wanting to venture further afield there is great day trips to surrounding towns including Baulpe, Childers, Bundaberg district, Howard and Torbanlea.
